About René Obermann

René Obermann is Managing Director and Co-Head of Europe at Warburg Pincus, one of the world’s leading private equity firms with more than USD 85 billion in assets under management (AUM) and offices in 10 countries, and CEO of Warburg Pincus Deutschland GmbH, and is undoubtedly one of the most renowned top managers in Europe.

Since April 2020, Mr. Obermann has also been Chairman of Airbus SE, Europe’s largest aerospace group. Mr. Obermann has also served on the supervisory boards of E.ON SE, Spotify Technology S.A. and Allianz Deutschland AG, among others.

From 2006 to 2013, Mr. Obermann was CEO of Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe’s largest telecommunications company with currently over 200,000 employees and revenues of more than EUR 100 billion. He was subsequently CEO of the largest Dutch cable network operator, Ziggo. Mr. Obermann began his career by founding a sales company for telecommunications services and equipment in 1986, while he was still studying at the University of Münster.
