Gunther Friedl is Professor of Business Administration and holds the Chair of Controlling. Since 2010, he has been the third dean of the TUM School of Management, a leading business school with more than 50 professors and over 6,000 students, and is considered one of the most successful business school deans in Europe.
During his tenure as Dean, the TUM School of Management received Triple Crown accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, while the number of students tripled. Prior to his appointment at the Technical University of Munich, Prof. Friedl was Professor of Controlling in Mainz and a visiting researcher at Stanford University.
Prof. Friedl has received numerous awards including the TUM Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Association of University Professors of Business Administration Award for the best textbook, and UNICUM Professor of the Year. Prof. Friedl is also Chairman of the Board of TUM Management Alumni e.V., a member of the Board of Trustees of the Deutsche Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz, and a member of the EQUIS Committee.
Prof. Friedl studied physics at TUM and business administration at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. He then completed his doctorate and habilitation at the LMU.
