About Dr. Theodor Weimer

Since 2018, Theodor Weimer has been CEO of Deutsche Börse AG, the largest stock exchange firm in Germany with more than 10,000 employees and one of the most profitable companies in the world. He is one of the most important people in the European capital market. Deutsche Börse’s business areas cover the entire process chain of financial market transactions, such as the provision of indices, data, analytics solutions, and trading.

Prior to his role as CEO, Dr. Weimer was CEO of HypoVereinsbank / UniCredit Bank AG, having served as head of Global Investment Banking at Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG and head of Global Investment Banking at UniCredit Group. Before that, he was Managing Director and Partner at Goldman Sachs. Dr. Weimer began his career as a management consultant at McKinsey before joining Bain as a Senior Partner and member of the Global Management Committee.

Dr. Weimer studied economics, business administration, and geography at the University of Tübingen and the University of St. Gallen. He then earned his doctoral degree from the University of Bonn.
