About Prof. Dr. Siegried Russwurm

Prof. Dr. Siegried Russwurm is Chairman of Thyssenkrupp, an industrial and technology corporation with about 100,000 employees, and former President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the leading association of the German industry, and is one of Germany’s most renowned and prominent top executives.

Before serving as BDI President and Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of Thyssenkrupp and Voith, Prof. Russwurm was a member of the Executive Board of Siemens, where he was responsible for all industrial issues, among other things, as CTO. Prior to that, he worked for Siemens for almost two decades, including positions as a member of the Medical Solutions Division, Head of the Motion Control Systems Business Unit, and Head of the Electromedical Systems Business Unit in Sweden and the USA. Mr. Russwurm began his professional career at Siemens in the Medical Technology division.

Prof. Russwurm holds a doctorate in manufacturing engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He is an honorary professor at his alma mater and holds an honorary doctorate from RWTH Aachen University.
