About Mariëtte Rissenbeek

Mariëtte Rissenbeek has been Managing Director of the Berlin International Film Festival (“Berlinale”) since June 2019. The Berlinale is an annual film festival held in Berlin and is one of the three most important film festivals in the world.

Prior to her position as Managing Director of the Berlinale, Ms. Rissenbeek was responsible for international festival relations and public relations at German Films, the German organization for the international promotion of German cinema. In 2006 she was appointed Deputy Managing Director of German Films and in 2011 Managing Director.

Ms. Rissenbeek studied German language and literature, theatre studies, and sociology at the Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht and the Freie Universität Berlin. After completing her master’s degree, she worked at the advertising agency Löhlein & Schonert and Tobis Film. She then worked as a producer at Ziegler Film and founded her own production company in Hamburg in 1998 before joining the Munich-based production company Hofmann & Voges.
