Heinrich Deichmann has been CEO of Deichmann since 1999 and is one of Germany’s most well-known businessmen. Deichmann SE has been a family business since it was founded in 1913 and is now the largest shoe retail chain in Europe with around 42,000 employees.
Mr. Deichmann joined the company in 1989 before taking over as CEO. Under his leadership, the company rapidly expanded its international activities. The firm now procures shoes in 40 countries and sells them in 4,300 shops in 31 countries.
Mr. Deichmann is involved in charitable work for people in need in Germany, Europe, India, and Tanzania through the Deichmann Foundation and the social missionary aid organisation “wortundtat”. Since 2013, Mr. Deichmann has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich August von Hayek Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Martin Luther Foundation.
Mr. Deichmann studied economics, history, theology, and philosophy at the University of Cologne.
