About Dr. Johannes Teyssen

Dr. Johannes Teyssen is designated Chairman of the Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group with more than 100,000 employees and revenues of about €40 billion, and was for over a decade CEO of E.ON, one of Europe’s largest energy companies with nearly 80,000 employees and revenues of almost €80 billion, and is undoubtedly one of Europe’s most influential and renowned top managers.

Following his tenure as CEO of E.ON, Dr. Teyssen was a senior advisor to KKR and Viridor, and member of the Board of Trustees of the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Prior to his time as CEO of E.ON, he was CEO of E.ON Energie AG and a member of the management board of E.ON AG, after serving as CFO of E.ON Energie AG. Previously, Dr. Teyssen was CEO of Avacon AG and a member of the Management Board of Hastra AG. Dr. Teyssen began his career at PreussenElektra AG.

Dr. Teyssen studied law and economics in Freiburg and Göttingen. After passing his first state examination, he completed his legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Celle and passed the second state examination. He subsequently obtained his doctoral degree in law (Dr. jur.) in Göttingen.
